Wimmitji was an important cultural elder and healer. As a pioneer in the Balgo art movement, he left behind him a highly-regarded body of paintings. Wimmitji worked closely with Father Peile in compiling a Kukatja/English Dictionary. He later painted with his wife, Eubena Nampitjin, one of the great artistic couples in Balgo.
