Biography
Tommy Skeen Tjakamarra was a Ngarti man who was one of the custodians for the country to the immediate south of Balgo. He was married to the late Millie Skeen, also an important Balgo artist. Tommy began painting in 1989, and his paintings depict sites from the Manga Manga area of Ngarti country, associated with the travels of the Nakarra Nakarra women. Tommy’s work became known and celebrated from 1992, when his painting was featured in the Chapman Gallery in Canberra.
