Lulu tells the story of this painting:
“Paraku. My ancestors used to live in this area; Paraku, that’s the lake. It was big! Before really big one, a lot of trees, and grass, Mularn creek and Emu creek. Big mob trees and grass. They used to go hunting and living here. One bloke there not far. Walmajarri bloke. He used to live their long time.
People come here hunting and fishing. This is the dreamtime of falling stars over there. Paraku. Named after that old man. Yes.
This lake is belonging to Walmajarri people, and anyone can come visit. Come here, you know. Come swimming, camping. We share the land too, we welcome them. Kartiya, Aboriginal and children. We share stories abvout this lake. We have songs too. To sing to and dance to. Sometimes those songs bring rain hey, and lightning.
And I did painting about this lake, white sand, water, blue, and dark blue.”
