Tjawa Tjawa, or Point Moody is the home country for Bai Bai Napangarti, Pauline's mother. This painting is from a story by Bai Bai. Many hundreds of women came on a long journey underground from Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay), a huge salt lake far to the south of Balgo. They arose and rested before travelling on to Tjawa Tjawa. They brought with them their wana (digging sticks), also used for dancing (held upright to tap time). This dance is still performed today in memory of this great journey.
