Title : Tjukukalyu
Size/Medium : 813 x 305mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
This painting depicts the objects and story associated with Jimmy’s Tjukurrpa (Dreaming) which is karnti (bush potato). This story is set in Jimmy’s traditional country of Tjukukalyu, east of Balgo in the Tanami Desert. The painting shows the country after the dry season fires, including the sacred site (central circle). The u shapes represent people, while the circles are a series of tjurrnu (soakwater). The curving lines indicated the travelling karnti vines underground.
