Sadie has painted some of her Tja Tja (Grandmother’s) country, not too far south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. These lakes are a wetlands for all kinds of birdlife. The two lakes are separated by a big sandhill, around the lakes is an abundance of grasses and mangarri (bush tucker) including tjunta (bush onions), punu ngana (bush berries), kumpupatja (bush tomato), sandalwood and lily flowers that grow in the soak after rainy times
