Mariette has painted some of her mother’s country located south west of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert. This country is known as Wartamuru named after a large tjurrnu (soakwater) depicted as the central area. The other features of the painting depicts swamps and sandhills and Marietta’s grandparents collecting bush tucker and hunting goanna.
The four circles represent Balgo, Yagga Yagga, Billiluna and Mulan. The communities surrounding her Mother’s country.
