Melissa has painted some of her Grandfather’s country and story around Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay). The central circle is the lake, and the U shapes surronding is the different skin groups sitting around and having a big Law meeting. The black represents the men, Tjampitjin, Tjangala, Tjapanangka and Tjapaltjarri. The yellow represents the women, Nampitjin, Nanaga, Napanangka and Napaltjarri. The interconnecting lines are the kiliki (creeks) which flow intro the river, each creek belong to a certain skin goup which connects with the lake. This is an important story for keeping Law and Culture strong. Melissa is te Grandaughter of reknowned artist Sunfly Tjampitjin.
