Artist : Nakamarra (Joan) Mandigalli
Title : Tjaluwan
Size/Medium : 457 x 305mm: acrylic on canvas Painting
This painting depicts some of Nakamarra’s great-grandfather’s country close to present day Balgo. This country features several water sources with Tjalyuwan Rockhole located at the top of the painting. The two lower circles are tjumu (soakwaters) called Gardiandanee, while the bold pair of lines are tali (sand dunes), that separate a warran (claypan) called Nintijalpa from the two soakwaters. This country is good for hunting laatju (witchetty grub) which was left here in the Tjukurrpa by a travelling ancestral snake.
