Bruce has painted an important men’s story which was passed onto him by his father. It tells the story of the Wati Kutjarra, or two goanna men. During the Tjukurrpa the Wati Kutjarra set fire to the country south of Balgo which then moved up towards Balgo along a creek named Karu. The Wati Kutjarra travelled through the creek bed to avoid the fire, travelling from swamp to swamp until they reached Balgo. The central circle represents a big swamp caled Undalarra.
