Stephanie has painted her grandmother’s story- Porpunpa. Her grandmother Lucy Yukenbarri (dec) was a renowned artist and Senior Elder. Here, Stephanie is learning to paint her story in her own new way. 

Stephanie has painted some of her Grandmother’s traditional country, which is located in The Great Sandy Desert, south of Balgo. This country is known as Porpunpa, named for the tjurrnu, or soakwater, shown in the centre of the painting. The majority of the painting depicts the talis (sand dunes), which dominate the landscape of the area.
