Muntja Nungurrayi

Biography

Muntja was born near Tobin Lake and her country is in the area surrounding the northern Canning Stock Route. She is a recognised authority in women’s law and a born leader. Muntja began painting her Tingari and dingo Tjukurrpa (creation stories and lore) in 1986. Her works display her authority in matters of the law. Muntja’s husband is John Mosquito (c.1912-2004), also an artist of note.
