Biography :
Caitlin lives and paints in Mulan Community, located on Walmajarri Country. This land, including the vast area surrounding Paraku (Lake Gregory), is her traditional Country—rich with ancestral stories and deep cultural connection.
Caitlin grandmother, Veronica Lulu, is a respected matriarch of the Mulan community and an established artist in her own right. It was Veronica who taught Caitlin to paint, passing down the creation story of Mungil—the flower that grows in abundance across this region and holds special significance for their people.
About this painting :
Karen has painted some of her traditional country, located close to her home community of Mulan. This painting features mungil, a type of seed. It was a common food source when Veronica was younger and before she came to live at Mulan permanently.
